A Brief Analysis of my Reading.
Reading Analysis
WALT: make a snap shot of my reading ability using the National Standards learning progressions.
This week we videoed ourselves reading an extract from Bridge to Terabithia. We had to watch ourselves and notice what challenges we faced when reading at 13-14 years. We had to choose 4 challenges that stood out the most. Then we had think how we were going to make changes to our reading, by setting goals.
The challenges I Face in Reading Are:
- I still decode words as I am reading.
- Paying attention to punctuation.
- Using expression while I read
- Reading more confidently.
The Goals That I Will Focus On In Term 4, So To Help Me Become A Better Reader Are:
- Re-reading chapters so I become familiar with the storyline & unknown words.
- Practice reading aloud to build my confidence.
- Make reading part of my Homework at least 3x a week.

Fractured Fairytale.
Fractured Fairy tale
WALT: recraft a traditional fairytale by changing characters, settings, main events and ideas but still making sure that the bone-structure of the fairy tale can be recognised.
Journey The Giant Slayer
One modern day, there was a magical goose who lived with the richest giant, called Jacob. This magical goose laid golden eggs but one night the goose did not lay eggs, she laid three magic beans. Jacob did not like this and threw the magical goose out of his house.
That morning a giant named Remus, who was the poorest but the most handsome giant in the land, found the wandering goose holding the three magical beans. Remus looked at the beans but he didnt know what to do with them. Remus he called out to his wife Chozen and told her to plant them in wet soil.
Three seconds later in front of their eyes, a big stalk grew out of the ground, that upwards towards the clouds and then dropped straight down to the world of little people.
In the afternoon Remus the giant climbed the stalk to take a look at the world of little people. He found himself in a village of small people. Remus quickly grabbed as many people as he could carry in his satchel, including the president Journey. Remus returned back to his house and told his wife that he has brought tea home.
Remus told his wife about his discovery and ask her to cook the little people up, as he was hungry. President Journey heard what Remus and he grabbed his hidden trusty pocket knife that was hidden in his jacket. He slit a hole in Remus’s satchel and squeezed out so that he could escape.
Chozen did not see Present Journey escape, so President Journey jumped onto Chozen’s shoulders and plunged his pocket knife into her heart. Chozen died instantly.
When Remus found his wife dead, he quickly searched for the culprit who killed her. Remus found President Journey as he was escaping back to his world and so Remus ran after him. Remus jumped onto the stalk and grabbed President Journey and said, ‘How many of you guys are there in your little world?
There’s billions of us,” replied President Journey.
“No there won’t be any little guys left in your world because I’m gonna start eating your people... and you’re gonna be the first. Then I’m gonna go to your town and eat your mother.
“You can't,” President Journey said, “she is covered in bricks of gold.”
“Oh yes I can because I am a Giant and a giant can do anything and see anything in your little world.”
Remus followed on his threat he made to President Journey. Plus he took the gold and he became the richest giant in the land. Remus lived happily ever after, without a wife.
The End.
